Any parishioner who pays tax is encouraged to join the Gift Aid scheme.

This enables the Parish to claim back tax on all the donations which you make to the parish each year. This increases the value of your gift by about 28% and raises around £15,000 each year for St. Mary’s Parish.

We must always be able to prove to the Inland revenue that you have made the donations so the easiest way is for your donations to be made by a Standing Order from your own bank account to St. Mary’s bank account. Some people still prefer to use the special envelopes for their donations - this suits people whose income varies from month to month and is also popular with parents.

You will receive a statement each year so that you can check the total that you have given. If you are a higher rate taxpayer this enables you to reclaim the difference between basic and higher rates for yourself.

If you are interested in joining this scheme please contact the Parish Secretary in the Priory Office.
